The Sunshine Award

Last week I posted a piece about Macarons on a fellow blogger’s (The Novice Gardener) Fiesta friday post. I have had so much feedback from everyone who took part. I have never had so many comments on one post before and I am so greatful and happy to

Like it is for everyone, it is hard enough to go to work everyday, come home and no matter how tired you are, there is always a long list of ‘should do’ items waiting for you to attend to. On my list is always ‘Feed us’. However late it is, I always try to cook us dinner (and yes it is sometimes just cheese on toast) but sometimes I have to kick myself and try to actually make something new. I do this so that I can put something new on the blog. It takes time and energy to take photos and write the recipe. Sometimes I forget why I do it, but when someone comments on your post, it is a wonderful feeling and when another blogger tells you that they have nominated you for an award, the feeling is amazing!

Sunshine Award

I want to thank Nancy from Feasting with Friends for this amazing award nomination. Knowing that your peers like what you do is the best feeling ever and this has renewed my energy in my blog and given me a nice little boost. Just in time for spring (even if the weather is not so spring like)!

As always there are a few little rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated me
  2. Answer questions given to be by the person who nominated me
  3. Nominate 5-10 people for the award
  4.  Ask about 10-11 questions the nominees have to answer
  5. Comment on the nominee’s blog to let them know they received the award.

Nancy’s question are as follows:

When was the last time you smiled at a complete stranger, please elaborate? I smile at complete strangers all the time. Whether on the bus, train or just walking down the road, I usually have a permanent happy face and when eye contact is made I smile.

Where are you taking your next holiday? D, myself and two of our friends have just booked a cruise starting in Miami and going to Mexico, Belize and the Honduras. We cannot wait!

You have the choice to live with a gorilla who knows sign language or a dog who sings lullabies, which do you choose? The gorilla for sure! We have a puppy who is attempting to sing all the time and it is driving me crazy, at least the gorilla and I might have a better chance of communicating.

If you could have just about anything to eat in one day without having to feel guilty, what are the top 5 things that you would eat? Tiramisu, Lasagne, Steak and bernaisse sauce, and Raffaello (my favourite little white chocolate and coconut balls that my mother in law brings from Poland).

What secret could you tell me? I don’t have any secrets (well I keep trying to tell myself that). But to those that don’t know me too well, I secretly hate olives but will eat them politely when served to me.

What is your favorite post that you’ve written? I don’t think I have a favourite but my most recent macarons post is the one that makes me feel good at the moment.

Chocolate or chilli? Chocolate!

If you could have only 3 electrical appliances in your house, what would they be and why? The television, dishwasher and washing machine. Could you imagine having to wash clothes by hand ALL the time? No, so the dishwasher and washing machine are a must, as for the television, I just love watching the cooking channel.

What is your opinion on selfies? Since when did they start being called ‘selfies’ ? We have always taken ‘selfies’ when on holidays or at family gatherings but to us they are just group photos. I’m not in the habit of taking photos of myself randomly.

If you go to a coffee shop, what do you typically buy? A latte and on a Sunday it’s a mocha.

And my nominees for the Sunshine Award are:

La Petite Casserole

Simple Pairings

Cooking without Limits

A Sweeter Thing

The Quiet Baker

I cannot nominate every blog I follow, which is a shame but I want to share these blogs with you my readers and hope that you will find them inspirational, funny and worth a read.

To the nominees, I do not expect you to accept. It is there if you should like to accept and I completely understand if you don’t. I just wish to pass this on to you as a sign of liking and appreciating your blogs. If you wish to accept, then my questions to you are:

  1. Other than blogging, how do you spend your spare time?
  2. Savoury or sweet?
  3. What is your favorite post that you’ve written?
  4. Tell us two things we do not know about you.
  5.  Who is your hero/heroine, and why?
  6. What is your favourite, book or film and why?
  7. Do you have a favourite ingredient?
  8. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
  9. Where can you see yourself in five years?
  10. If you could have only 3 electrical appliances in your house, what would they be and why?

Thank you for reading my little blog today, I hope you keep following and thank you for all your support!

    1. Thank you Angie! It’s weird how something so small can give you such a boost 🙂 Looking forward to Fiesta Friday #9, now to figure out what to bring to the party…
