A little bit about me:
Hi I’m Vanessa and together with my husband and taste tester ‘D’ we are Kitchen Feasts. We live in a beautiful seaside town in Co Dublin. We bought our first home a few years back and yes we still have lots of unpacked boxes in our attic.
We are proud owners of one very independent and intelligent cat called Lawrence and one very stupid but adorably cute Labrador called Cara. Safe to say, they have a love hate relationship going on.
I am a ridiculously early riser and get on average two to five hours sleep a night. I talk non-stop and am generally an all day happy person but am particularly bad in the morning. I am one of those people that coffee calms me down and if you want some peace in the early morning, give me a cup of good coffee and I might (I highlight Might) be quiet for an hour or so.
I run most mornings between 5 and 10 kilometres, and because I refuse to give up my favourite foods, I recently joined a gym and swimming pool.
Obviously totally addicted to my morning cup of coffee and to name a few other things: almonds, avocados, coriander, coconut, and chocolate. Always dreaming of a healthier and easier food lifestyle but then reality kicks in and I realise that life is just too short, eat what you want and when you want. Sometimes a nice slice of cake, a big bowl of pasta or toast topped with melted cheese is a must!
I am a terrible photographer and own many a camera, but always seem to revert back to my little phone to document our life. Sad I know but that’s just my laziness kicking in.
The last 15 months have been a very long and rocky time for us. I gave birth to our beautiful and perfect daughter Elena Jane on the 1st of January 2015 but sadly she didn’t survive and we are now learning about who we are and how to live life again as we are now very different people than we were this time last year. But now finally we have a little light shining in our lives again as on the 8th March 2016 our ridiculously gorgeous and perfect baby boy was born. We named him Alexander (The Great), 6 lbs and 14 oz of pure joy and growing rapidly. Like his father he has an insatiable appetite which now means I get to eat lots of yummy extra calories and I get to make a few extra indulgent treats when time permits of course!
So when I’m not changing nappies and feeding Alexander (and sitting staring and watching him sleep) I spend my days day-dreaming and coming up with new recipes and ideas for the blog and my ultimate dream of writing a cookbook and owning our own cafe. That is when I’m not working for a very cool little wine shop and cafe in Co. Dublin.
So for all the days that are sublime and for the days that, well just don’t live up to the others, food is my saviour, my recipe for life.
